listened to the voyager while writing this and it definitely holds up. how was the process of learning as an adult? i have no conscious memory of learning to ride a bike and i imagine it is a lot more intimidating as a fully grown human who is much further from the ground and doesn't have access to training wheels!
it is! i tried to learn when living in america but never felt safe enough on roads to really practice. when i lived in NL, bc it it biking heaven, is when i got a handle on it. very safe bike lanes everywhere! i took lessons from this really sweet woman named marija in den haag who gave bike lessons only to adults and we’d go to a bike practice course at an elementary school
Jane, this newsletter sent me down so many rabbit holes: Rilo Kiley, your NYT article!, scrolling and zooming across the purple air map, WSDT social media, bicycle face… thanks for all this!
Jane, loved this! Please say hi to Ella at Breakfast. Her partner Michael runs our bike store here on Whidbey. Great riding up here ... (yes, that's Jane-bait).
Beautiful
ooo she's writing for the NYT <3 ! this reminded me to revisit the voyager. also--i did not learn how to ride a bike until adulthood!
