Downloaded substack and read some of your older pieces and am in tears with this one. What a gem of a dog she was. ❤️

DOPPELGÄNGER IS SO GOOD. And really not the point of this post, but I just had to agree with that snippet. I’m so sorry for your loss, sending hugs.

In another world where my dog didn't die, this post would probably be about Doppelganger, so it's not NOT about it. I'm glad you liked it too — it made me feel so much saner in these ridiculous times.

Sending you so much love, Jane. What a gift Maeby was and is. How lucky you got to know her and love her! I agree, animals are our teachers.

Ah Jane, so sorry about Maeby. We have been there twice. Cherry's ashes are in Brenda's studio, and Layla's are right here in my office. Yes, both our dogs had porn star names.

Love the recommendations. Doppelganger was already my TBR list, but it just moved up. I have to make notes about who recommended what, or I forget. I think the last one from you was The Crane Wife, which I loved.

And that chimney sign! Classic Jane.

Ha, Maeby's name at the shelter was Brandy -- another good porn star name. And so glad to hear you liked The Crane Wife! I loved it so much I actually recently reread it. I hope you love Doppelganger too!

Cherry came with that name from the shelter. Layla came with that name from my daughter, no name from the shelter

So many books📚!
